*as I’m not writing this on my own laptop I don’t have access to my photos – I will upload them later*
After the first couple of weeks in China I was looking forward to getting down to the much loved town of Yangshuo. Word of mouth and guide books all basically said the same thing… very beautiful, very touristy, charms of a smaller town & not to be missed…
I really loved this place.
Arriving in town and instantly getting lost while walking down the pedestrianized roads, tiny side streets and large markets I couldn’t stop grinning… everything was instantly much more relaxed than Beijing & Xi’an.
If I was going to compare it to anywhere I’ve been so far I would have to bring up my time in Byron Bay… obviously not the look of the place but the feeling it gives off. I was now in a backpacker haven!
The hostel was brilliant (Yangshuo 11) – Modern rooms, awesome aircon, extremely helpful and pleasant owner (Yan?) and an annoyingly big movie collection… all for £2.50 a night!
Monkey Janes rooftop bar
The view after climbing to the top of one of the mountain pillars
‘Secret beach’ and swimming in the river with a beer
Cycling to Dragon Bridge, Moon Hill & surrounding tiny villages
This was the beginning of my time with Jess & Rachel who I spent the next month with 😀
